I have always been interested in art and creating. I received my B.F.A. from Cornell University and an M.A. in Art Education from Columbia University. Besides teaching art to high school students, I also designed rugs, and interiors.
In the 1980s I designed quilts for my mother-in-law, an avid quilter, who made numerous quilts for her grandchildren. I inherited her stash and sewing machine. When that machine died and I bought one to replace it, I decided to put it to use by taking a quilting course. The first quilt I ever made was for my first granddaughter. Four more grandchildren within three years and I suddenly found myself a quilter.
I soon began designing my own patterns and about eight years ago, I bought a longarm to help enhance my quilting. I love experimenting with different media and techniques. Progressing from bed and lap quilts, I now prefer to hand-dye my own fabrics and concentrate on creating whole cloth quilts.
